CCA or Cooperative Content Acceleration(TM) is technology that actively accelerates content on your pages without any modifications to your site. Your pages will load 2-10x faster using CCA. This technology allows your site content to be served from the fastest server available for that particular type of content.
The general-purpose server you are currently using is most likely being used to serve all types of content from tens to thousands of other sites in addition to yours. Some use CGI perl scripts, others PHP or some other dynamic page generation technology. At the same time, thousands of static files (gif, jpeg, mpeg, etc) are also being served by the same server.

A CCA system consists of 3 main components, two of which can be combined on the same physical server under certain configurations. Origin Server (OS) Load Tracker (LT) Distribution Center (DC) A number of Origin Servers and Distribution Centers can be controlled by a single Load Tracker. An ordinary web-server becomes an CCA-enabled Origin Server with the installation of the mod_ccafilter Apache or NSAPI module. An DC consists of the Cogitive optimized web-server, Viper, and an additional web-service module that communicates with the Load Tracker for continuous site-traffic updates.
